Werder Bremen 2-2 Vfl Wolfsburg: Dzeko ends goal drought

Werder Bremen twice battled back from behind to rescue a point, and their long unbeaten run, with a goal in added time against VfL Wolfsburg. The result was enough to put Thomas Schaaf's side top of the table ahead of Leverkusen, who take on Stuttgart on Sunday.

Werder started with the confidence to be expected of a side unbeaten in 20 competitive outings, carving out their first good chance in the fifth minute. Hugo Almeida connected with a ball in from skipper Torsten Frings and his header towards the top left-hand corner pulled a great flying save out of Wolfsburg keeper Diego Benaglio.

At 42', Ziani fed Edin Dzeko down the right and the rangy Bosnian striker moved inside, turning Boenisch and Naldo first one way then the other before drilling the ball past Wiese into the far corner. It was Dzeko's fifth goal of the campaign, but his first in over 600 minutes of league action.
