After the match at Anfield on Saturday (09/25/2010) n, the Sunderland manager Steve Bruce who questioned the sportsmanship of the players linked to goals from Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt made. Bruce also made a face referee Stuart Attwell leadership for not accept the goals that he values should not be authorized.
However, leadership Atwell and Kuyt's goal defended by the Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) Premier League. This means that Atwell's decision is correct and Kuyt goal was not at all problematic.
"According to the Laws of the Game, after stopping the game due to all sorts of violations, the referee shall 'indicates the resumption of the game'," explained PGMO at Reuters.
"In practice, in most cases, the referee indicates by giving cues to the player to take the kick. Cues can be minimal, there is no necessity to use the whistle."
"The ball then played at the time was kicked and rolled. So in this case the ball was played back immediately after being kicked by a Sunderland player," said the statement.
Bruce previously also assess if the point of a free-kick should have done long back. Thus any one of the players just want to give it to the goalkeeper to then pick it up. But not so the views PGMO.
"Laws of the Game is to explain that free kick should be taken from places where there is a breach occurs. Again, in this case, the referee has the right to determine that the free kick taken from the correct position," PGMO straightforward.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is also supporting the referee's decision authorizing Kuyt goal. "I thought it was quick thinking from (Fernando) Torres and Kuyt."
"I think the first goal was not supposed to be annulled," he said on Liverpool's website.
